SHELDON ELLIOT BALSER

April 18, 1955 - March 15, 2026

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Sheldon Balser on March 15, 2026 in Davenport, Iowa at age 70.

Sheldon was born on April 18, 1955 in Oshawa, Ontario; the fourth of six children to Raymond and Helen Balser. He grew up in Oshawa before spending most of his adult life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He devoted 30 plus years of his life to working for the Canada Revenue Agency, where he met his first wife Jo-Ann. They would raise two sons together, and after divorce Sheldon would eventually move to the United States with his wife Becky.

Sheldon loved to bowl and play chess, and spent much of his time in Winnipeg in leagues both as a player and a coach. He also adored his beloved Maple Leafs and Blue Jays.

Sheldon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 17 years Becky; siblings, Kevin, Karen, Colleen and Wayne; sons, Raymond (Michelle) and Russ (Karyn); stepsons, Jose and Andrew; grandchildren, Natalie, Isabelle, Drew, Samantha and Jose; mother-in-law Mary and sister-in-law Melinda; niece Alanna and nephew Matthew, as well as numerous other cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Wanda and nephew James.

As per Sheldon's wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
